Creating My Blog

September 5, 2011 - I am starting to think that for me holidays mean spending the day writing this blog. Once again, I have wasted most of the morning on this!

I took a ride up the road to get a decent picture of the paper mill for my Labor Day blog, and as usual, I got a little side-tracked and took way more pictures than necessary. Then it dawned on me that I had taken pictures in the winter of 2008 also, so I had to find those pictures too. Which all led my active imagination to think of more stories I could write, I have got to focus!

Does anyone else, who makes their blog on blogger, have a huge problem getting your blog organized? Every time I attach some pictures and then try to rearrange my words around them, funky things happen. I just spent over an hour trying to get the pictures where I wanted them on today's blog. Am I doing something wrong or is the system just that difficult? I have the same problems with Works too. It just will never put the picture where I want it. Drives me nuts. Hence, no pictures on this little whiny notation. And one more quick whine - the font change just randomly changes at times. Either I need to figure this out or stop being such a perfectionist.

June 5, 2011  During each week, I keep in the back of my head different ideas for my Sunday's blog.

Watching my garden starting to grow, I decided early in the week that I wanted to write about how the little bean sprouts poke out of the ground. I wanted to take a picture of my little bean plants taking off in my garden.

Could I have taken that picture sometime during the week? Well, of course not. Instead I was out there at 6:45 am on a Sunday, taking multiple pictures of my baby bean plants. Shouldn't a person have something else to do at that time of day? Either sleeping in bed or getting ready for church are the only things a normal person should be doing.
March 13, 2011    After spending - wasting - yet another hour setting up the perfect picture for today's blog, I thought I would add this feature for those who really want to know how completely crazy I am.
Today's blog (March 13, 2011) was about Judas Iscariot and how he sold out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. I don't have 30 pieces of actual silver laying around my house, but thought a handful of random foreign coins would work.
My dad used to collect old coins and had many years ago given me an antique cigar tin filled with foreign coins. I thought that they would make the exact picture that I had in mind. Do you think I could find that tin this morning?
So, I switched to plan B, which was a seek and conquer mission through my dresser, my husband's dresser and each of my kids' rooms in search of what I knew to be multiple stashes of foreign change. Between the four of us, we have a total of five trips to Africa, five trips to Mexico, two trips to Germany, one trip to South America and countless trips to Canada, not to mention the plethora of foreign exchange students who have graced our door. There is a lot of foreign currency in this house, but do you think I could find much of it this morning.
Finally, do you notice the beautiful blue velvet fabric under the money? Again, a mission ensued to get that. I knew that I had this dress hanging in the back of my daughter's closet. This would be the closet with the broken sliding door, meaning that I couldn't just slide the door open to get to the far side. Instead I had to crawl through all her stuff on the near side to reach the back corner. And then do it all over again to hang the stupid dress back up.
And believe it or not, this was pretty much a typical event in the life of this blogger. Check back at this page periodically to see what other misadventures I have had in getting the best stories and pictures to your home.
